Video Transcript:

Your child has progressed by leaps and bounds—literally! Suddenly, your baby is a toddler that can run and twirl and shimmy. Yet, as she feels and acts more independent make sure to stay close at all times. Just because she can climb the furniture doesn’t mean she should! Here are some of the physical milestones to expect this year:
• Increased muscle coordination and balance, which means your child will be kicking, throwing, catching, running, climbing, moving in every direction — and can stand on one foot for up to five seconds.
• Walking up and down stairs independently
• Using her body to express emotion—shaking fists or jumping up and down for joy
• Her fine motor skills are also developing, so she’ll be
o Peeling fruit
o Drawing basic shapes
o Drawing people
o And possibly writing – or tracing — a few capital letters
Remember, all kids develop at different speeds. If you’re at all concerned; just call your pediatrician to talk things through.
