In this video, we take a first look at the newly released Grok Code Fast 1 model from xAI. Touted as a very cheap and very fast coding model, we take it for a spin on OpenRouter and test its capabilities across a variety of programming tasks.
We explore simple web app generation, Python FPS game creation, code translation from Python to HTML, and push the model into some edge-case territory with NSFW and refusal tests. Toward the end, we also compare its pricing against similar offerings from competing labs to see how it stacks up in both cost and speed.
