Journey from Pakistan to Canada | Ft. Shahzeb Naveed, Machine Learning at GM

This video shares the personal experience of Shahzeb from NUST, Pakistan, who shifted his profession from electrical engineering to data science and moved from Pakistan to Canada. He initially worked at Unilever Pakistan before opting for a master’s in data analytics at the University of Waterloo. Despite the financial challenges due to the devaluation of Pakistani currency, he believed the experience was worthwhile. To secure his first co-op position in Canada, he used both the university’s internal job portal and made use of LinkedIn referrals. He ultimately discovered that networking and reaching out for referrals had a significantly higher success rate than ‘blindly applying’ online.
