How to install Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on a Chromebook or Chromebox. How to install Microsoft Office ONLINE app on your Chromebook.
The office software is ‘installed’ within your Google account, independent of the hardware. However, the app, Google Docs, reads and saves files in a Word Doc format , if you need that format. Also, Google docs works offline, I use it a great deal on my Chromebook. I do not mean to miss lead anyone. It is just that apps can now be installed and synced within your Google Account. When looking for the “Office” App , do be sure to ONLY use the “Office” App from Microsoft or Live.com. Look again at the Google App Store and, if you do a search for “Office” a number of apps and extensions will show up. Trust only the ones from Microsoft or live.com.
