Hi, this is Matt, and this is a video on using the Ad Inserter WordPress plugin.

There are lots of different ways to use Ad Inserter. If we click on Ad Inserter here, you’ll see it works as an ad manager, often used for managing AdSense ads. However, I personally create my own ads using Canva and use Ad Inserter to insert them at specific points throughout my WordPress posts.

I have over 4,000 posts on this site alone, so I needed a plugin that could do this at scale, without manually editing every post. Let me show you how it works.

I’ve got a random post open on my site—Best British Movies of All Time. If we scroll down, you’ll see an ad that has been inserted at a specific number of paragraphs. This is a graphic I designed in Canva. It’s clickable, and when a user clicks, it directs them to an opt-in page or sales page.

Further down, you’ll see another ad—again, inserted at a set interval using Ad Inserter.

To install Ad Inserter, go to Plugins in your WordPress dashboard, click Add New Plugin, search for Ad Inserter, then click Install and Activate. Once activated, go to Settings and Ad Inserter, and you’ll see the Ad Inserter dashboard.

Ad Inserter’s dashboard looks complex, but here’s what you need to know. Each block represents an ad. I currently have five active ad blocks on my site. To insert an ad, you need simple HTML code.

The ad uses HTML to create an image with a clickable link. The image URL comes from the WordPress Media Library. The height, width, and alignment are set via basic CSS. If you want a clickable ad, wrap it in an a href tag that links to your landing page, opt-in, or affiliate offer.

Instead of manually inserting ads in 4,000+ posts, I can update a single ad block, and it updates across my entire site. This means if I want to change an ad, I only update it once in Ad Inserter. Ads are placed automatically in every post based on the rules I set.

In Ad Inserter, you can select where to insert the ad—after a specific paragraph, before comments, or even on category pages. I typically use “After Paragraph” and insert ads at Paragraph 15, 90, and beyond. You can exclude ads from appearing inside content boxes by adjusting the settings.

Ad Inserter is an amazing tool if you want to automatically place ads in WordPress posts and pages. It’s perfect for affiliate marketing, opt-ins, and custom ads. You can change ads in one place instead of editing thousands of posts manually. You have full control over ad placement—no messing with WordPress post editors.
